Forum Preview
"Energy and the Economy"
The
Chamber would like to thank Avista Utilities for sponsoring the upcoming Forum
program. Forum will take place on Monday, December 14 at the Rogue Valley Country
Club which is located at 2660 Hillcrest Road, in Medford at 11:30 AM.
Avista
Utilities is sponsoring the program on "Energy and the Economy". Dan Kirschner,
Executive Director of the Northwest Gas Association will deliver this month’s Forum
presentation. Mr. Kirschner will discuss aspects of the national and regional energy
resource mix, energy commodity pricing and trends in the energy sector.
For
years energy has been an issue with little resonance.
Now public attitudes relating to the generation, production and
transportation of energy as well as associated costs are reaching a “tipping point”. As the public is now confronted with the nation’s
energy challenges citizens are demanding solutions. But
a hazy understanding and a fragmentary view of the problem persists. While most people
identify how energy prices are hitting their wallets and expense ledgers, many struggle
with the larger energy picture.
The
December Forum will be Avista Utilities’ fourth “Energy and the Economy”
Forum in a series intended to inform and educate southern Oregonians on issues pertinent
in the energy sector.
